Count On Trump To Dig A Deeper Hole

Didn’t take a genius to see this one coming and write this back when Trump first launched his excursion. Here’s a replay of what I wrote back then.

Here's the thing:

Nobody is mourning the deaths of the ayatollah and other top leaders of a murderous regime that butchers its own people and has funded terrorism across the globe. But what pisses people off about starting an unsanctioned war with Iran is the cavalier attitude of Trump and his band of incompetent jackals and their lack of clearly stated goals, strategic purposes and an end game.

Since Vietnam, American military and civilian leadership have at least paid lip service to a 'no more quagmires/mission creep' doctrine, melding that with the traditional expectation Americans have that we have a just reason for going to war that is clearly communicated to us.

George W. Bush sure blew that to hell and back when he let Dick Cheney and the neo-cons push him into invading Iraq after 9/11, committing us to two decades of spilling American blood and treasure there and in Afghanistan.

At least the Shrub, Rummy, Evil Dick and Colin Powell went through the motions and lied to us about Iraq and the weapons of mass destruction that were never there.

There's no plan or lip service with Trump. Only Hegseth’s dumbass statement that this isn’t another Iraq, meaning another twenty year war. How the fuck does this drunk Christofascist know?

Far smarter folks than him have badly fucked up their wartime calculus. And the American War Machine is one expensive motherfucker to run.

Trump doesn't give a shit about the cost, the carnage or justifying his war of choice. Doesn’t give a damn that he lied when he promised the American people there would be no more endless wars. That was yesterday’s Big Whopper. Today, he’s too busy admiring the gold drapes that cover the yawning hole where the East Wing of the White House used to be.

But you can damn sure bet he’'ll use the resulting chaos of his colossal fuckup as an excuse to suspend the mid-terms, also praying it distracts us from the Epstein files. Wrong again, Donny.
